Firmware Version 8.0(0) for Cisco IP Phone Model 7912

The firmware image name within the 8.0(0) COP file is CP7912080000SIP060111A.sbin.

This firmware version supports the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and is supported on Cisco CallManager Release 5.0 and higher.

Installing the Firmware Load

  1. Click on the following URL:

          http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-phone-7905

  1. Click on the COP file for the Cisco 7912 IP phone and follow the prompts to download it.

  1. Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page.
  2. Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Install/Upgrade.
  3. Fill in the appropriate values in the Software Location section for the file you downloaded above, and click Next.
  4. In the Available Software drop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.
  5. After validating the MD5 hash value is correct, click Next.
  6. In the Warning box, verify you have selected the correct firmware, then click Install.
  7. Check that you received a Success message.
  8. To install another file, click New Install and repeat steps 5 - 9.  To exit, select any option from the menu bar.

Verifying the Firmware Load

You may verify the installation of a COP file as follows:

  1. Using your web browser, login to the Cisco CallManager Administration web page.
  2. Under the Device menu, select Device Settings > Device Defaults.
  3. Verify the new firmware image name is listed in the Load Information field for the Cisco 7912 SIP IP phone.

Cisco IP Phone Model 7912 Alternative Firmware Format

The Cisco IP Phone Model 7912 firmware version 8.0(0) is also available in a ZIP file as part of the standard SIP release.  The name of this file is CP7912080000SIP060111A.zip.  To manually install the firmware, follow the steps below.

  1. Download the file from the following URL:

          http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-phone-7905

  1. Extract the .sbin firmware file from the ZIP archive to a directory on your hard disk.
  2. Using your web browser, login to the Cisco IPT Platform Administration web page.
  3. Under the Software Upgrades menu, select Upload TFTP Server File.
  4. Click the Browse button and go to the directory where the firmware file is located.
  5. Double click on the firmware file to upload.
  6. Click the Upload File button to upload the firmware to the TFTP server directory.
  7. Use the file listing window scroll bar to scroll and verify the file exists in the TFTP server directory.
  8. From the Navigation pull-down menu, select Cisco CallManager Administration and click Go.
  9. Under the Device menu, select Device Settings > Device Defaults.
  10. Locate the row corresponding to the Cisco 7912 SIP IP phone.
  11. In the Load Information field, enter the firmware image name without the extension.
  12. Click the Diskette icon or Save button to save the changes.
